For those one or two of you who have seen my previous post, this will be a change.
Now that we are down to two candidates for president, to me the choice is obvious, and that is for John McCain to be president. I have followed both candidates over this long election season. For Barack Obama is a great orator with little or no substance. An attender of his church for 20 years until it became a political liability. The liability was listening to that preacher for all those years and having his childred subjected to his preacher's arguments. That is a longer lasting liability that as a father he should have made a choice. Yes, I will personally meet with the Republican candidate and accept government funding. No meeting, no government funding, blame it on the Republicans. Another pet peeve. Drilling offshore for oil, McCain supports reasonable drilling, Obama comes up with the age old Democrat replay, we can't drill our ways out of this mess. No we can't but it will sure will help and 62% of American agrees with McCain's position. As Mr. Rasmussen of Rasmussen polling said, Barack you may be a gifted orator but you can't talk yourself out of this one.
Now that the Democrats have been in control of Congress for almost two years, is anyone tired of their absurd answer for everything, It's Bush's Fault. Folks forget that Congress's approval rating in 10% below that of President Bush. Come on Democrats, stop complaining and do something for a change. Shock and Awe Us, if possible.
Oh and Barack, the Surge worked!!

Thanksgiving for our Family
Thanksgiving is tomorrow, as I type this at 12:45 Wednesday morning. We will enjoy turkey, family, turkey, football, turkey, mucking out horse stalls (another story), turkey and let's see, turkey. We will celebrate with our blogging daughter, Rachel, best son-in-law, Alex and the best grandson we have, Aidan. We'll also be blessed with the Pa and Ma, yep, my dad, her mom, the cutest couple around, over 70 that is. We will miss the other side of our family, our wonderful boy, Ryan, and the best daughter-in-law Jessica, as they are far away enjoying a Thanksgiving in Laie, Oahu. We hear from Ryan that Jess will be working that day at Turtle Bay. Who will they share their first Thanksgiving Day with, the Martz Family, the Tongans, their neighbors who they have grown to love so much, or just a quiet family dinner with Ry, Jess and Austin, Jessica's #1 brother who is out there with them? We will miss them terribly but will be seeing them in just three short weeks for Ryan's graduation. Yippeee!! We'll also have all of Ronda's family (my one and only sister) with Tommy and their five marvelous kids. I love you Sis. That will be fun and I can't wait. Someone better hold Aidan now because he won't be put down for four days.
The person I will miss the most is my Mom, always the best family hostess around. And Connie will miss her Dad, but both families are represented in the Pa and Ma (yep, my Pa, her Ma, and the cutest couple around).
On that day I will be grateful for my wife, my eternal companion and an angel assigned to Grumpy (that's me) here on Earth. Thank you Heavenly Father for giving her that assignment, I don't know what I did right up there, but it must have been pretty special to get her. I will also be grateful for my eternal family, Rach, Alex, Aidan, Ryan and Jessica and the kids both couples will yet have. The best place on Earth is a family hug in the Celestial Room. Thanks kids for making that possible. My eternities will never be happy without any of you so family hug in Heaven when we all get there a long, long time from now.
Thank you Heavenly Father and our elder Brother, Jesus, for blessing me and making that possible. For all this, I give Thanksgiving.

Kids today!!
Well as a grandpa (Papa G) and a long time father (29+) years, I have a bit of experience raising and watching kids, and I just want to answer that age old question, What's wrong with kids today? And the answer is overall NOTHING!!
Last week I gave the lesson to the High Priest's Group on strengthening our families. I started off with the comment that folks tell me I'm LUCKY to have the two kids I have. I said I'm not sure whether to take that as a compliment or criticism. Yes, I agree, I am lucky to have the kids I have and they are GREAT, but then I'm luckier to have the two kids I have and for them to have the two GREAT spouses they have, someone else's GREAT kids, lucky parents, lucky me, lucky kids of mine. All four of these kids are great because they have parents who love them, parents who support them in correct decisions and parents who took them to church with them, took them with, not sent them to church without. Love, support, correct decisions, standards and most important example make parents LUCKY like me. I love you Rachel, Alex, Ryan, Jessica and my grandson, Aidan. I love my wife and appreciate the parents of my kid's spouses.
